The world around us

We recognise the responsibility we have to our people, our clients and our communities to address the complex and evolving needs of the world around us.

Creating sustained value

Our approach to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reflects our long-term view of everything we do.

We recognise the unique opportunity we have to influence upstream to clients and downstream to our supply chain, and the value we can create when our values are aligned. So we foster strong collaborative relationships with all stakeholders and look for ways to optimise the design and operation of our buildings to generate shared value across the triple bottom line.

Four key principles drive our approach

To create sustained value we need to be a sustainable business. We are a mature business with established principles that provide us with the discipline and rigour to make an impact, along with the agility to respond to individual project requirements. Four key principles drive our approach to ESG and enable us to be the best creators of high-performance assets that match our clients’ unique mix of value drivers.

Operating with high standards of integrity, including strong and mature governance.

Looking after the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone who comes into contact with our workplaces.

Having strong staff engagement through a clear and well-articulated people strategy aimed at attracting, retaining, developing and appropriately rewarding all our employees in line with our values.

Seeking opportunities to create a positive impact from our operations on the environment and those around us.

We want to create positive impacts through the projects we deliver – for our people, our environments and the communities that we operate in.

Environment

We empower our teams and supply chain to deliver tangible environmental outcomes for our clients and end users based on credible evidence. In 2019, Multiplex became the first construction contractor in the world to sign the World Green Building Council’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment.

Health and Safety

We want people to go home safe and healthy from our workplaces.  We are on a continuous journey to enhance safety culture and standards across our business and the broader industry.  We believe striving for safety not only protects our people but delivers better long-term performance from us and the assets we construct. We work with our clients during the planning phase to design and integrate safety controls that focus on minimising and eliminating risk from our sites.

Quality

Exceeding our clients’ expectations depends on our ability to deliver consistent quality. Our quality systems and processes are designed to ensure the highest standards and we invest heavily in driving them forward across our global operations.

Social value

We create social value by using our projects as vehicles to meet the needs of local communities. We are driven by the opportunity to change people’s lives through investing in people, supporting businesses, inspiring communities and respecting our neighbours.

Governance

Over and above sound policies and procedures, we recognise that good judgement and flexibility are central to achieving our objectives in an ever-changing landscape.  As such we place an emphasis on having the right discipline and structure in place alongside our people and values to enable effective governance.
