Multiplex completes The Beach Apartments at Broadbeach

Just four apartments remain for sale within the distinctive beachside tower, with those apartments expected to be sold before the end of the year.

Multiplex's regional managing director for Queensland Graham Cottam said the Gold Coast project was completed on schedule, and has provided a timely injection to the local economy leading into next year's Commonwealth Games.

"Construction of The Beach Apartments has delivered a major boost to the Gold Coast economy, with local residents and businesses the biggest winners," Mr Cottam said.

"The project, which took almost two years to complete from start of demolition and excavation to completion, created more than 1,400 local jobs onsite during construction," he said.

"We are always proud of our achievement to bring a project such as this to a timely completion that meets its budget," he said.

"The project supported the local community by choosing local workers first, and supporting local suppliers wherever possible," Mr Cottam said.

"The 15,510 cubic metres of concrete was sourced from local supplier Hymix, with another local business Neumann Steel supplying the 2,200 tonnes of steel used for the project.

"The 3,102 glazing panels and 1,089 Balustrade panels used to construct the facade of building were fabricated by local supplier Queensland Facade Systems and Feenix Balustrades.

”The Beach Apartments was one of the first major projects to start construction in what we see as a new cycle for the Gold Coast, which we believe will extend beyond the Commonwealth Games,” Mr Cottam said.

The site’s 3,000 square metre footprint comprises a tower floor plate of 620 square metres and a gross building area of 30,757 square metres. During construction more than 1,400 people worked on-site.

Multiplex’s commitment to using innovative construction techniques saw all the tower structure verticals constructed within a self-climbing jump form system that covered the full floor foot-print of the building. The jump form system was specially designed and purchased for The Beach construction, and fabricated locally by formwork subcontractor, Infinity Constructions.

Standing 108 metres high and located in the heart of Broadbeach, the 35-level structure is within walking distance of the beach, Kurrawa Surf Club, Jupiters Hotel and Casino, Pacific Fair, the new light rail and the popular dining precinct.

Multiplex has completed 90 projects in Queensland over the past 27 years in the residential, tourism, commercial, health and infrastructure sectors. It has operated on the Gold Coast for more than 25 years and is the only Tier 1 contractor with a local office.

The Beach Apartments is one of six projects that Multiplex has underway in Queensland, and one of two projects the company is working on in Broadbeach - with The Jewel still under construction and expected to be completed in mid-2019. It is Multiplex’s second Gold Coast project since the Hilton Surfers Paradise was completed in 2011.

A joint venture project between Anthony Moreton Group and Pryde Group, The Beach Apartments comprises 219, one and two bedroom apartments, that were priced from $330,000 for one-bedroom and $550, 000 for two-bedroom. Only four apartments remain for sale.

Designed by internationally acclaimed DBI Design, it has impressive communal facilities including outdoor pool and barbecue area, Zen garden, residents’ lounge and gymnasium.
