The most distinctive pair of skyscrapers in the world

Emirates Towers stand at the heart of the financial centre of Dubai, and are among the most distinctive pair of skyscrapers in the world. The office and hotel towers rise to 54 storeys (354m) and 56 storeys (309m) respectively.

The two triangular towers are a dramatic reminder of the commercial confidence in a city that has grown at an astounding rate.

The buildings are clad in silver aluminum panels and silver and copper reflective glass. The three equilateral triangular forms are reflective of Islamic culture and symbolic of the earth, sun and moon.

The towers rise from a three-storey terraced podium, which houses a luxury boutique retail mall with restaurants and cafes, set within lush landscaped gardens, including waterfalls and ornamental lakes. Flanking each tower are low-rise curvilinear parking structures, reminiscent of the shifting sand dunes of the surrounding desert.

In 1997, Multiplex was awarded the contract for the construction of the 354m office tower and the retail area, the first project undertaken by the company in the region.

Multiplex undertook an extensive and innovative structural re-design which provided significant cost-savings due to time and material reductions. Completed in 1999, Emirates Towers remain soaring symbols of Dubai and are still one of the most recognisable features of the Dubai skyline.
