Multiplex finishes construction on Brookfield Place in Perth 3 months ahead of schedule

Concurrent with the completion of the first tower, the precinct has been renamed "Brookfield Place Perth", reflecting the prominence of the project within the global property portfolio of our parent company Brookfield.

Located at 125 St Georges Terrace, the tower is 234 metres high, and is the largest commercial building in Western Australia with a total of 86,000 square metres of premium quality A-Grade commercial space across 45 levels.

"The project is one of our most significant in Australia, in terms of value, sustainability and innovation. Brookfield Place brings not only an increased commercial capacity to the CBD, but social and cultural development through the planning of new civic space, vibrant retail and dining and a heritage precinct giving a historic and traditional prominence to the development rarely found in Perth's CBD," said Chris Palandri, Regional Managing Director, Construction and Development, Western Australia.

Construction started in August 2008 with Multiplex completing construction three months ahead of schedule. Following practical completion, the final stages of tenant fit-outs will be completed over the coming months. Commercial office tenants, retailers and restaurant outlets will begin a phased move-in, while Café Court tenants will begin trading from 5 June. An official opening event for the precinct is scheduled for mid-September 2012.

The building, owned and managed by Brookfield, is targeting a 5 Star Green Star Design rating and a 5 NABERS base building energy rating.

BHP Billiton is the anchor tenant - occupying 34 floors, while Price Waterhouse Coopers and Barrick Gold will occupy the remaining space in the building.
