Redefining Holland Park

Multiplex was appointed by Native Land to design and build their prestigious residential development in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, as part of their London residential portfolio.

Holland Park Villas contains 68 prime residential apartments with an additional four penthouses. There will also be a wine store, basement parking, an energy centre and landscaped gardens, as well as a spa with swimming pool, sauna, gymnasium and treatment rooms. Overlooking Holland Park, in close proximity to Kensington High Street and Notting Hill, the development is within close proximity of local transport links, cafés and markets.

This project employed a bottom-up construction methodology, with a basement box, RC concrete frame to level six, and a steel frame for the final level. Totalling approximately 270,000 sq ft, the façade of the development will be finished in Portuguese limestone and handmade brick, with schuco glazing in a bronze anodized finish. Natural stone, marble, leather, distressed metals and bespoke joinery are being tested through an indicative mock-up apartment offsite.

Specific project challenges have included the transfer of site works from the enabling works contractor to Multiplex for the main contract, which was achieved successfully. The busy and constricted site also has a single access road, which means vehicles must be carefully walked in and out of site.

Work commenced onsite in April 2015 and topping out was achieved in December 2016, shortly after the start of full fit-out works which Multiplex is also undertaking. The completed development will achieve a Code for Sustainable Homes rating of Level Four.
