Our Executive Team is committed to supporting and promoting gender equality across the business.

  • We have a clear strategy in place to support gender equality, supported by clear and inclusive policies and our Gender Equality Action Plan.
  • We create initiatives and policies based on internal and external research which helps us to target our attention and efforts in the right areas and ensure our practices are sustainable.
  • As part of our Diversity and Inclusion strategy, to ensure we are driving a safe, respectful and inclusive culture for all, we ensure our business is a place where people of all genders feel empowered to be their best selves in work and life, are supported and can thrive.
  • We have a clear focus on development so our people can have fulfilling careers with us. We run a strong talent and succession process including robust checking measures and manager education to reduce bias.
  • We drive change at an industry level by actively participating in initiatives that promote the attraction and retention of women into the construction and engineering industry.

Key Multiplex Initiatives

  • We conduct regular gender pay equity reviews and have robust processes in place to meet our commitment of paying equally across all genders in like-for-like positions.
  • We have learning programs designed in-house that focus on gender bias and inclusive and respectful behaviour; as well as training for recruitment managers on recognising and managing bias during interview processes.
  • Leading gender-neutral Parental Leave and benefits.
  • Employee led Networks such as Women@MPX.
  • Industry leading approach to flexibility to enable better work life balance.
  • Jump Start: our program designed by Multiplex women to inform school-aged women of the wide variety of career paths available in construciton, using our projects as vehicles to educate and inspire.

Our partnerships

In addition to a range of targeted approaches and initiatives we also participate in a range of groups and forums which support women in our industry:

  • Diversity Council of Australia (DCA) – Multiplex is a member of the Diversity Council Australia. DCA, is the independent not-for-profit peak body leading diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We regularly take part in DCA discussions and events.
  • National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) – NAWIC is an Australian Not-For-Profit organisation whose mission is to champion and empower women to reach their full potential in the construction and related industries. Multiplex is a corporate member and we provide membership to all of our employees. We also participate in a range of NAWIC events nationally.
  • Australian Constructors Association (ACA) – we are committed to driving sustainable change in our industry overall. In order to be instrumental in change, we are members of the Australian Constructors Association Culture working party. We play an active role in this working party which aims to address change in the culture of the construction industry, which in turn, supports gender equality.
