Leading global contractor Multiplex has continued its award-winning run after taking out four awards in this year’s Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards for four different projects in Western Australia.

The $430 million St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals project won Best Health/Aged Care Building. This win follows success at this year’s AIB Professional Excellence in Building Awards where Multiplex won AIB Professional Commercial Construction $100 Million Plus Award for its work on the 367-bed hospital.

The project was also one of four finalists in the BankWest Best Project overall award.

Speaking at the awards, Mr Chris Palandri, Regional Managing Director of Western Australia, said the company was proud of the continued awards for the St John of God hospitals.

“These awards speak to the high quality of the St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals project in Midland. Multiplex is proud to have contributed to the success of this state-of-the-art hospital in one of WA’s fastest-growing areas.”

The Multiplex head office, situated in Perth, won the Best Building Fit-out under $10 million category. The 1100 square metre commercial fit-out is of high quality with fundamental materials such as concrete, steel and glass used extensively throughout, reflecting the company’s proud construction heritage.

Roy Hill Mine Services Area which provides housing for both the operational staff and specialist equipment required to operate and maintain a mining fleet, took out the Best Industrial Building award. Multiplex was responsible for the design and construction of the facility, as well as providing transitional support and operational training before transferring custody and control to the mine operators.

Lastly, Brookfield Place Tower 2 was awarded the Best Office Building over $50 million category. The premium-grade 16-level commercial office tower, located in the award winning Brookfield Place precinct, has 34,000square metres of net lettable area and offers conference facilities, 110 parking spaces and a 5-Star NABERS base building energy rating.

The Master Builders - Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards showcase the quality of construction in the areas of structure, external finishes, services, internal finishes and civil works. Other areas considered were time management, value for money, innovation, site management, form and function.

"We are proud of having taken out four awards at this year’s Master Builders. It is a true testament to the outstanding work that our team has achieved so far,” said Mr Chris Palandri, Regional Managing Director of Western Australia at Multiplex.

The awards were presented at a gala function held at Perth Crown Casino on 23 July 2016, attended by more than 700 industry representatives and guests.
