Multiplex delivers new Sensory Therapy Room to WA charity

The construction company donated the time and expertise of its WA graduates and cadets to project manage the design and construction of the room, as well as procure a range of specialist equipment that will be used by the charity to help children with disabilities improve their sensory and motor skills.

The team of engineering, construction management and finance graduates engaged the support of over 40 contractors, suppliers and consultants to turn what had previously been used as a storage space into a fully functional sensory therapy room.

The room will be officially opened for use by Senses Australia at its head office in Burswood on 16 December.

Multiplex Regional Managing Director Chris Palandri said the company was pleased to be able to support a local cause, and also thanked the many contractors and suppliers who donated their services and products to the project.

"We are thrilled to deliver this outstanding facility to Senses Australia through our graduate program and with the kind support of many of our suppliers and contractors," Mr Palandri said.

"We hope Senses Australia and their clients get great use from the room and that it will benefit those most in need of the sensory therapy services it provides."

Senses Australia general manager services, Elvira Edwards, thanked Multiplex for its support.

"The graduates have been working tirelessly to ensure this new purpose fit out will allow us to adapt the room to ensure we meed the needs of our clients, so people of all ages can benefit," Ms Edwards said.

"The new sensory therapy room will allow us to hold individual and group therapy sessions, and enable us the opportunity to trial specialised sensory equipment."

As part of Multiplex's graduate program, graduates are challenged to identify and deliver a project for the local community that utilises their skills and encourages collaboration with trusted contractors and suppliers.

Previous WA graduate projects have included building a community bicycle recycling workshop for Fremantle non-profit organisation Dismantle and constructing an outdoor play area for the Kids Are Kids therapy and education centre in Bateman.
