Multiplex delivers Platinum Tower to Melbourne CBD

Designed by architects Squillace, Platinum spans 52-levels and comprises a total of 438 apartments in one, two, three and four bedroom configurations with expansive resident facilities.

Exclusive resident facilities are located on the top level of the tower, featuring a swimming pool, sauna, spa, gym, private dining, wintergardens and sky lounge with views of Melbourne CBD, Albert Park and Port Phillip Bay.

The podium of Platinum Tower accommodates retail, a ground level restaurant and café and concierge facilities for residents. It also provides nine levels of car parking. Four lifts service the tower, including designated low rise, mid rise and high rise elevators.

We have drawn on our specialist expertise to meet construction challenges associated with delivering high-rise towers in the busy CBD environment,” said Mr Graham Cottam, Regional Managing Director of Multiplex Victoria.

Challenging elements of the construction included the green façade to the Podium structure, cantilevered structure at Level 40 to support curtain wall glazing, and construction of a swimming pool on Level 52.

Platinum’s design also includes a range of innovative ESD features such as a Green Facade on levels two to eight, rainwater harvesting and re-use for landscaping, water efficient fixtures and appliances, allocation for 170 bicycle racks and high performance glazing.

Some 1,900 people worked on-site during the construction which spanned over 23 months.

Multiplex completed construction of Salvo Property Group’s $55 million Bella Apartments at 248-252 City Road in Melbourne's Southbank late in 2015.The 33 level tower comprises a total of 228 apartments in one and two bedroom configurations, with a gym and ground level retail tenancies. There are also three levels of car parking that contain a car lift and bike storage.
