Campus One Student Residences, Toronto
Multiplex was engaged by Knightstone Capital Management, a developer who leases the building to the University of Toronto, to provide construction management services under a Construction Management at Risk contract for the demolition of the existing shop fronts that originally occupied the site and the construction and fit out of the new 25-storey student residence.
The project commenced in Q2 2014 with the demolition of three existing buildings in a tight urban environment, bordered by existing residential and retail units on College Street. The 385,000 sq. ft. residence is a new build project and includes ground floor retail, 298 residential units (848 beds) and student amenities, including a study lounge, state-of-the-art fitness facility, communal laundry, a 336 seat dining room and a full service cafeteria. The building has a concrete frame with a cladding combination of pre-cast concrete and exterior window wall systems.
The project was completed on time, with substantial completion achieved in August 2017, in time for student occupancy for the 2017-2018 academic year, and final completion achieved in December 2017.
