Carefirst One-Stop Multi-Service Centre, Scarborough
Carefirst One-Stop Multi-Service Centre is a five-storey, 53,000 sq. ft. building that serves as a community centre to address the social and healthcare needs of the growing population in the Greater Toronto area.
Work commenced on the project in 2013 with the demolition and remediation of the existing site, and construction of the new centre was substantially completed in 2015. Multiplex was awarded the project after a competitive bid process and was engaged for full general contractor services for the construction and fit out of the project under a Stipulated Sum contract.
The project contains a multi-service social centre, family healthcare centre and clinic, a respite care unit, complementary retail and rental space, administration office, cafeteria and outdoor garden.
As typical for new build projects in the City of Toronto, this building complied with Toronto Green Standards to Tier 1 requirements. To achieve this, the project has a green roof system in place and exceeds the city by-law requirements.
