PROJECTS

College & Spadina Student Residences, Toronto

A 28 level new build scheme is to be constructed on land partly owned by the University of Toronto and leased to developer Knightstone Capital Management, and will provide 298 residential units to the local students. The 384,802 f2 scheme includes retail on B1 and L01, amenities on L02, and student housing (848 beds) from L03 to L024. Whilst there will be no parking garage, the students will benefit from a variety of amenities including a study lounge, fitness suite, laundry, a 336 seat dining room and a full service kitchen server.

The development will be established on 3 sites municipally known as 245, 251-253 and 255 College Street. The start on site is planned for early Spring 2014 with the demolition of 3 existing buildings in a tight urban environment, bordered by existing residential and retail units and a main street. The new build will consist of a concrete frame, clad with a combination of precast concrete and exterior window wall systems. The project is due to be substantially complete well in advance of the start of the 2016 academic year.
