A State Significant Development that will deliver enhanced facilities and provide additional capacity to meet the demands of the Greater Newcastle, Hunter New England and northern NSW regions

The John Hunter Hospital redevelopment will deliver a significant expansion, providing additional capacity and purpose-built infrastructure to enable the implementation of contemporary models of care.

The project will provide a 60 per cent increase in the Intensive Care Unit capacity, and almost 50 per cent more operating theatres, further supporting the delivery of world-class health care to the rural and regional communities in NSW.

The redevelopment will also deliver enhanced and expanded facilities with a new seven-storey acute services building, a new emergency department, as well as purpose-built flexible education space co-located within clinical services.
