Breathing new life into a historic, Grade II listed building in Central London.
The extensive refurbishment of New Zealand House involves retaining 90% of the existing structure. Featuring 138,000 sq. ft of office and hospitality space across 19 storeys, this complex adaptive re-use project has a keen focus on sustainability.
New Zealand House represents our market-leading, circular economy approach to repurposing existing buildings as well as our emphasis on sustainably preserving heritage.
Within the scheme, repurposed steel will be installed, and the existing glass façade will be upcycled, preparing it for use elsewhere. The project encompasses meticulous preservation of 1,600m2 of heritage features, as well as the sympathetic restoration of the Grade I listed Royal Opera Arcade, the oldest Arcade in the UK. First opened in 1818, it will be lovingly restored to its original glory over two hundred years later.
Our teams use innovative methods, such as our in-house laser scanning, to inform our model-first design process and streamline design to mitigate issues ahead of time. This allows us to produce a ‘digital twin’ of the building, making future asset management as straightforward as possible.
With Westminster to the south and Piccadilly Circus to the north, New Zealand House will deliver top-class office and retail space in a prime London location on completion.
