Rebuilding Queensland

Bellbowrie Kindergarten

Following devastating floods in Queensland in 2011, Multiplex wanted to help flood affected areas around the state return to normal as quickly as possible and support staff affected by the floods.

Multiplex got involved with Operation Bounce Back, a joint initiative of the Queensland Government and Channel 7, by project managing the rebuild of three vital community facilities. A large number of Multiplex’s subcontractors came on board to donate services and materials.

With more than 600 junior league, soccer, cricket and softball members across two clubs, the Karalee Tornadoes and Northern Suburbs Leagues Clubs were left without clubhouses after the floodwater reached the second floor. Bellbowrie Kindergarten was completely devastated by floodwaters.

Multiplex rebuilt the bottom floor of the Northern Suburbs clubhouse, including undertaking a $70,000 renovation of the canteen, showers and toilets. At Karalee, it converted a demountable lunch shed into a fully functional canteen, ensuring that the club’s only source of fundraising was back up and running in a matter of weeks.

The playground and internal areas of Bellbowrie Kindergarten were completely rebuilt, with new services, walls, doors, kitchen, office facilities, flooring and amenities installed. The works were completed in a matter of weeks, ensuring that the kids could return to normal classes prior to second term.
