Transit City, Vaughan
Multiplex has executed a Construction Management at Risk contract with VMC Residences GP Inc., General Partner for the joint venture between SmartREIT and CentreCourt Developments for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Transit City Residential Development.
Transit City is part of the Master Plan for SmartCentres Place, which currently contemplates over 17 million sq. ft. of a major nine-acre development. This includes 10 million sq. ft. of residential, five million sq. ft. of office space and two million sq. ft. of retail located next to the new TTC transportation hubs in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.
Phase 1 of Transit City is comprised of two residential towers, each 55-storeys tall, with a total of 1,110 units and seven levels of above-grade parking to accommodate 1,100 parking stalls. The North and South Towers are each 500,000 sq. ft. and are located on opposite sides of the 380,000 sq. ft. above-grade parking. Phase 1 construction is scheduled for completion in Q4 2020.
Phase 2 of Transit City is comprised of a third 55-storey 632,000 sq. ft. residential tower with a total of 612 residential units and six levels of above-grade parking with space for 285 parking stalls. Phase 2 construction is scheduled for completion in Q1 2021.
