Working with the University of Glasgow to deliver state-of-the-art learning facilities

The University of Glasgow was established in 1451, making it the fourth oldest university in the UK, with the main Gilmorehill campus based in the city's West End.

In 2017, the University embarked upon an ambitious expansion programme to further enhance its global standing and provide a positive impact on the community it serves – creating additional world-class teaching and research facilities through a £1 billion investment programme.

Phase one of this investment consisted of constructing a new Learning and Teaching Hub on University Avenue and the development of the former Western Infirmary site. In total, creating four new academic buildings with associated landscaping, infrastructure and roads.

The second phase will include a new Centre for Chronic Diseases and the creation of an Innovation Quarter. The extension to the university’s Gilmorehill campus will also create a central square linked to Byres Road and provide commercial opportunities in the form of restaurants, bars and a hotel.

The development will create a vibrant learning and research campus that is woven into the urban fabric of Glasgow’s west end, building on the university’s legacy and positioning it as a ‘world-changer’ in international higher education
