Early collaboration driving innovative delivery of Sydney’s next-generation digital infrastructure

Multiplex has worked closely with NEXTDC on S4 Sydney since 2022, providing early concept advice that helped shape the project’s initial design direction and long term technical ambition.

In 2024, Multiplex progressed into a formal Early Contractor Involvement phase, refining design options, supporting the State Significant Development process and validating commercial and technical feasibility. This collaborative foundation has directly enabled S4 Sydney to move confidently into delivery.

Designed by HDR and Greenbox Architects, the 30,743-square-metre facility spans two four-storey buildings and will provide critical digital infrastructure to support surging demand for AI computing, cloud services and data storage.
The project also pioneers extensive modular construction using precast cores, columns, OSD tanks and façade elements, supported by some of the world’s largest luffing cranes. A unique on site 330kV substation also highlights the project’s advanced engineering capability and delivery innovation.
