A prime example of low carbon office design
76 Southbank, the former home of IBM, features over 300,000sq.ft of office space, situated on the Thames.
The Grade II listed commercial office building has been sensitively remodeled, refurbished and extended to transform it into a sustainable office space with extensive terracing overlooking the River Thames. Designed by AHMM, Multiplex retained 80% of the existing structure, exemplifying low carbon office design and targeting BREEAM outstanding certification.
The development offers flexible office spaces that promote productivity and comfort and help foster collaboration. Surrounded by 50,000 sq.ft of outdoor terraces, occupants will benefit from biophilic landscaping, enhancing the connection to nature. An additional floor has been incorporated into the building as well as extensions to existing office spaces to increase capacity for future tenants. Amenities such as cycle parking, showers and locker rooms was also installed.
Bringing much needed office space to the local area, the project created 1,200 additional jobs for the community and wider London, contributing to the local economy.
