Main Beach, Gold Coast; The first development on The Spit in more than two decades will soon break ground with Gordon Corp announcing it has appointed Multiplex to deliver its $300 million ultra-luxury project, The Mantaray Marina and Residences.

The announcement signals yet another milestone for the project, which represents the first new development on The Spit since Palazzo Versace, Sheraton Mirage and Mariner’s Cove more than 20 years ago.

It is also the first development to be delivered under The Spit Master Plan, led by the Queensland Government following extensive community consultation.

The Mantaray Marina and Residences is the visionary development of project partners Tim Gordon, founder and CEO of Gordon Corp, and pub baron Bruce Mathieson.

Mr Gordon said the appointment of Multiplex reflected the high standards to which the residential, retail and superyacht precincts will be delivered.

“A development of this calibre requires a Tier-1 contractor and our partnership with Multiplex provides quality, certainty, and more than 60 years of local and international experience,” Mr Gordon said.

“Mantaray Marina and Residences has been designed as a world-class residential experience and our investment in this precinct will create one of the globe’s most coveted residential and superyachting destinations.”

The Rothelowman-designed residences include a collection of 24 two, three and four-bedroom apartments, villas and penthouses alongside a 67-berth superyacht marina, resort facilities and The Mantaray Club – an exclusive members-only on water lounge.

Designed to ‘Platinum’ Gold Anchor status, the superyacht marina will provide long and short-term berth leasing, immediate ocean passage through the Gold Coast Seaway and year-round deep-water access, world-class marina operations, on-site security, and full-service concierge.

An activated retail plaza designed to create a strong link between The Broadwater and the Pacific Ocean will connect the precinct to its surrounds and provide access to leading restaurants and cafes.

“The Mantaray Club is the centrepiece of the superyacht precinct, providing an unrivalled marina and clubhouse experience,” Mr Gordon said.

“Here, residents and members can enjoy the highest standards of personal service including an arrival and departure lounge, restaurant and bar facilities, sun deck, and private dining and meeting rooms.

“Members of The Mantaray Lounge also have access to general superyacht marina operations, boat and berth hire facilities, marina security services, and a full-service concierge encompassing everything from repairs and maintenance to events, catering and coordinating onboard personnel.”

Multiplex Regional Director, Michael Sinclair, said construction would commence in early 2024 and would be delivered by a dedicated team of prestige project specialists.

“Delivering an integrated residential, retail and superyacht precinct to a standard Australia hasn’t experienced until now is an exciting undertaking for our team, who are well versed in premium mixed-use developments,” Mr Sinclair said.

“Like many Tier-1 builders, we are selective about the projects we undertake and The Mantaray Marina and Residences is without doubt an exceptional addition to our workbook.”

Mr Sinclair said the project would create up to 300 jobs during the two-year construction program, which includes the delivery of the superyacht marina, luxury residences and retail precinct.

Three and four-bedroom residences at The Mantaray start from $8.5 million and the penthouse collection starts from $14.4 million.
