London, United Kingdom: Multiplex is pleased to announce its appointment by St John’s Wood Square Development Limited to deliver the Shell and Core Contract of this major redevelopment at the site of the former St John’s Wood Barracks in Westminster, London.

Totalling 5.5 acres, the St John’s Wood Square development will see the transformation of the site previously occupied by the King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, along with properties at 1-7 Queen’s Terrace, into a super prime residential development in central London.

The development comprises a total of 179 new homes, including 11 townhouses, 109 private and 59 affordable apartments, spread across nine buildings ranging in height from three to six storeys. The works also include for the sensitive restoration of the Grade II listed Riding School building, preserving the heritage of the site.

Multiplex, which has been working with St John’s Wood Square Development Limited under a pre-construction services agreement (PCSA) since September 2023, has now been appointed to deliver the shell and core scope for the development.

Demolition of the site was completed in May 2023, and the basement construction works by McGee’s are well advanced. As a result, completion of the shell and core stage of construction is scheduled for December 2026, with the fit-out element to complete by December 2028.

St John’s Wood Square Development Limited is targeting WELL Platinum and BREEAM Excellent certification for the shell and core construction. The Master Plan Architect for the scheme is Squire & Partners, an internationally renowned design practice with a reputation for creative, considered, and distinctive commercial design and delivery. Wilkinson Eyre, one of the world's leading architectural practices are responsible for the Heritage works, with the Landscaping by Andy Sturgeon Design, three time ‘Best in Show’ winner at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Award-winning architecture studio, EPR Architects are the Executive Architect for the development.
