An extension connected both in structure and services
The Etihad Training Academy Extension project comprises a large open area with access doors to deliver and install flight simulators, in addition to control rooms for each simulator, briefing rooms and offices on levels 1 and 2, with access to all areas via walkways, metal access stairs and internal access stairs.
The proposed extension covers an area of 2,300m2 with a total GFA of approximately 4,300m2 (G+ 2) and is located in Khalifa City ‘A’ alongside the existing training academy in Abu Dhabi.
The new building will be physically connected to the existing flight training building both structurally and through mechanical and electrical connections. The existing building must remain in full operation, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the course of the works and therefore presents a number of logistical challenges to be overcome by the site team.
