Five-building hospital campus with 500+ beds
The new Footscray Hospital project is one of the state’s largest health infrastructure investments, comprising more than 500 beds across five interconnected buildings.
The scale of the development required significant coordination across multiple work fronts, supported by a major site establishment and complex construction sequencing.
Delivery of the precinct involved the operation of 10 tower cranes and the management of extensive structural, services and logistics interfaces. Digital engineering played a central role throughout the project, supporting design coordination, construction planning and the integration of works across the interconnected buildings. This approach enabled the team to manage complexity at scale while maintaining alignment between disciplines and delivery packages.
The hospital provides expanded healthcare capacity and enhanced facilities for the growing community it serves. The project demonstrates Multiplex’s capability to deliver large-scale health infrastructure through detailed planning, advanced construction methodologies and technology-enabled project delivery, contributing to long-term social infrastructure outcomes and supporting future healthcare demand.
