LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM. Construction of One Nine Elms development reaches first phase completion.

R&F Properties and Multiplex are delighted to announce that Phase 1 of One Nine Elms, the mixed-use development and focal point of the evolving Nine Elms area in south-west London, has reached Practical Completion.

One Nine Elms stands at the entrance to the Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea Opportunity Area. The development comprises two landmark residential towers – amongst the tallest residential towers in Europe, reaching 42 and 57 storeys in height - which will accommodate 494 homes and a luxury Park Hyatt Hotel. It will also provide more than 3,500 sq ft of retail space and public realm.

In its role as main contractor, Multiplex, the global construction company which specialises in bringing large scale and tall buildings to life, has now formally handed over the first Phase of the development to R&F Properties. This includes the prestigious Park Hyatt London River Thames Residences (consisting of 103 Park Hyatt-branded apartments), and the first 31 floors of the tallest tower in the Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea regeneration scheme: River Park Tower.

Designed by lead architects KPF, the two towers are linked together with a glazed bridge at the first floor that will provide access to the hotel facilities, including a luxury spa, ballroom, club house restaurant and karaoke bar. A large residential lounge and sky garden will be located on level 50 of River Park Tower, offering panoramic views of London across the River Thames.

The practical completion of the first phase of the development represents an important milestone in London’s Nine Elms regeneration and the culmination of years of hard work by R&F Properties, Multiplex and the project team since the building contract was signed in August 2017.

Supported by an expert supply chain, including lead architects (KPF), mechanical and electrical engineers (SWECO), structural engineers (AKTII), and landscape designers (LDA), Multiplex has worked with more than 200 contractors. More than 25,000 operatives have worked on the scheme to date, surpassing 10 million work hours, which is estimated to be the equivalent of 110 lifetimes.

Callum Tuckett, Managing Director at Multiplex, said:

“The completion of phase one marks a significant milestone, showcasing the unwavering dedication and hard work of the client team, designers, supply chain partners and the Multiplex team. As we advance toward finishing the project, we take immense pride in our collaboration with R&F Properties. The development sets new benchmarks for London's skyline and will stand amongst the tallest residential towers in Europe once complete.”

Sean Banks, Deputy Project Director at Multiplex, said:

“No project of this ambition, scale and complexity can be delivered without close collaboration, effective teamwork and the support of supply chain partners that are too numerous to mention. I firmly believe that Multiplex and R&F Properties have demonstrated the efficacy of a new approach to the construction of major projects, centred on mutual respect, technical expertise and commercial pragmatism, and the result is the achievement of this significant milestone. The development is now amongst London’s standout offerings, setting the standard of quality in both design and build.”

Mr Guan, Chairman at R&F Properties (UK), said: “Nine Elms is the most exciting new neighbourhood in central London, and One Nine Elms represents its most premium residential offering. The project is the culmination of expertise from world-class leaders in architecture, design and landscaping, realised through our strong partnership and close collaboration with Multiplex. Practical completion is a key milestone and we are proud to have created a stunning destination for both residents and visitors alike, setting the benchmark for quality in design both in the UK and internationally.”
