Multiplex, a leading global contractor, has been appointed by OSK Property to deliver Stage One of its iconic $2.8 billion Melbourne Square development, set to be one of the largest mixed-use precincts in central Melbourne.

Located in the heart of Southbank and bound by Power, Kavanagh and Balston Streets, Melbourne Square will feature six towers ranging from 38 to 73 levels in height. Four residential towers will deliver over 2,610 apartments, alongside a 621 room hotel and a 52,000 square metre commercial tower.

Amenities will also include a retail centre, food and beverage precinct, child care centre and extensive public parklands with cascading water features and piazzas that will be the largest in Southbank.

“We are delighted to play a pivotal role in this exciting project which will see a city block revitalised to become a vibrant vertical village. Melbourne Square will further activate Southbank and deliver much-needed green open space and amenities to the precinct,” said Graham Cottam, Regional Managing Director of Multiplex Victoria.

The $490 million Stage One of Melbourne Square comprises a striking pair of residential towers situated above an eight-level retail podium set to include a supermarket, specialty stores and cafes.

The high-rise towers span 54 levels and 69 levels respectively and together will provide a total of 1,043 residential apartments.

Designed by award-winning Cox Architects, the residential towers of Stage One share a terraced podium providing over 3,700 square metres of public realm including landscaped parklands and a retail precinct at the base of the towers.

The bold pleated façade of the towers provides a bay window feel and has the effect of widening the external skyline views and maximising natural light.

Multiplex has completed several new residential projects in the Melbourne CBD over the last 12 months including Hengyi Pacific’s Light House, ICD Property’s Eq.Tower, and Salvo Property Group’s Platinum Tower. It also has several residential projects set for completion including LK Property Group’s Capital Grand, Fragrance Group’s Premier Tower, Central Equity’s Southbank Central and Hengyi Pacific’s Swanston Central in Carlton.

Construction of Stage One of Melbourne Square commences immediately with completion anticipated in August, 2020.
