LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM. Multiplex, the global construction contractor, has completed The Broadway, one of the largest high-end residential schemes in London, on behalf of the leading real estate developer Northacre Properties, a subsidiary of Northacre and SHUAA Capital.

Designed by architects Squire & Partners, the development has transformed a substantial 1.72-acre triangular site in Westminster, formerly home to the Metropolitan Police Headquarters for almost 50 years.

The Broadway comprises 268 apartments across six towers, ranging between 13 and 19 storeys tall, providing residents with unrivalled views of The Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace.

Between the six towers of The Broadway is Orchard Place, which is set to become a contemporary wellness destination in Westminster, providing 116,000 sq ft of office space and 27,000 of retail space, marking the first time Northacre Properties, which is widely known for its prime residential developments, has brought commercial space to the market.

Extensive new public realm has been created to support and improve the wellbeing of residents and circulation and access has been enhanced by establishing a new thoroughfare linking Victoria Street with St James's Park tube station.

Since starting on site in February 2019, Multiplex has worked closely with Northacre Properties and project team partners to deliver this iconic development to the highest standard, ensuring The Broadway offers a uniquely premium experience as intended.

Residents have access to 16,000 sq. ft. of health and wellness facilities -  a 25-metre pool, premium spa facility, gym, personal training studios, treatment rooms and a games room. A meeting room, screening room and extensive parking offer additional space and benefits.

The site was once home to the orchards of Westminster Abbey, and with nature in mind, two beautifully landscaped fourth-floor gardens have been created, linking the six buildings together. These spaces combine to create a sense of tranquility and community above the nearby Hyde Park, Green Park and St James's Park.

Walid El-Hindi, Group CEO Northacre: “We are extremely proud to have reached practical completion on one of our landmark projects, The Broadway. We would like to thank our main contractor Multiplex, alongside our supply chain, designers, and specialist consultants for their unwavering commitment and dedication. They have all been exceptional in delivering this magnificent new addition to the London skyline.

We are excited to enter the next phase of this project and see our new destination Orchard Place, the Wellness Capital of London, coming to life and being enjoyed by all. “

Alistair Sansum, Deputy Project Director at Multiplex said: “Our whole team at Multiplex has worked closely with Northacre throughout the course of the Project and maintained progress throughout the Pandemic to help realise their vision of a contemporary residential and mixed-use development, which is a welcome and striking addition to an area not short of landmarks."

Michael Squire, Senior Partner at Squire & Partners: "The Broadway is a vibrant residential-led mixed-use scheme, which contributes to the delivery of Westminster City Council's vision for the regeneration of Victoria. On the ground floor, retail units and entrances to the office accommodation are accessible via Orchard Place – a new pedestrian street connecting Charles Holden's Grade I-listed St James's Park station to Victoria Street. Above the podium, six residential towers are clad in a dynamic geometric pattern of pre-cast concrete, inspired by the nearby Art Deco station."
