Multiplex, a leading global contracting business, has completed the $83 million HarbourOne at 349 Docklands Drive in Melbourne Docklands more than a month ahead of schedule

Developed by MAB Corporation, the residential development is situated in the upmarket NewQuay precinct and comprises 329 apartments over 22 levels in a range of soho, studio, one and two bedroom configurations. A separate building integrated within the development comprises 28 5-star one and two bedroom serviced apartments over five floors.

"HarbourOne is a landmark building with a sophisticated design making it feel more like a boutique hotel than a residential complex. It will be a welcomed addition to Melbourne's vibrant inner-city lifestyle," said Graham Cottam, Regional Managing Director of Multiplex for Victoria.

The complex offers expansive views to Victoria Harbour and the city skyline and features a ground floor entry lobby, an audio visual lounge, four levels of resident's car parking, gymnasium, commercial/retail tenancies and an exclusive library lounge with internet access.

Designed by Plus Architecture, HarbourOne's facade features a wave-like balcony profile on its northern side and a flowing ribbon-like design around the building's remaining exterior. The facade comprises precast vertical elements, structural steel, glazed aluminium vision panels and balustrading.

The building's design incorporates a number of ESD features including solar hot water generation and water sensitive urban design initiatives. As a result the development received the VicUrban Award of Merit and has met the Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA) environmental standards.

The implementation of a refined defects management process ensured a high standard of finish and enabled the project to be delivered more than 1 month ahead of the scheduled completion date.

Much to the delight of the client the early completion of the HarbourOne project facilitated an earlier than anticipated opening of the new serviced apartments, resulting in fully booked accommodation during the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival and subsequent Melbourne events, said Graham Cottam, Regional Managing Director of Multiplex for Victoria.

HarbourOne is Multiplex's eighth project in Melbourne's CBD within the last 18 months, bringing the total value of construction projects to over $1 billion. Other current developments include 700 Bourke Street, 171 Collins Street, RMIT, Upper West Side and the Peter Doherty Institute.
