Repurposing a historic building

Multiplex transformed Centre Point, one of London’s earliest skyscrapers, into 82 luxury apartments in this imaginative commercial-to-residential scheme at the eastern end of Oxford Street.

Constructed of pre-cast concrete segments in the 1960s, Centre Point was an early pioneer of modular construction, and the 117-metre (385 ft) Grade II listed tower still dominates the West End skyline today, providing panoramic views across the city.

Our team converted Centre Point House and Link within the Centre Point complex into retail units and restaurants, while maintaining the 36 occupied apartments situated above. The top four storeys have been reconfigured to accommodate a duplex penthouse and two single floor apartments, and we also constructed new leisure facilities, including swimming pool, spa and a club lounge with screening room. The project also involved the demolition of an existing public house to make way for 13 affordable apartments.

The refurbishment of this 35-storey London icon spearheaded the regeneration around Tottenham Court Road Station, which will be a major transport hub with the opening of the new Crossrail station.
