Delivering a complex project within an active, highly-sensitive environment

Multiplex is delivering Stage 2 of NEXTDC’s B2 Brisbane data centre, comprising an extension to the existing facility to support increased digital infrastructure demand. The project will double long-term IT capacity from 6MW to 12MW and includes the construction and fit-out of a new 1,400m² data hall.

Early works involved complex excavation, with large rock-breaking machinery used to remove Brisbane tuff rock, a unique volcanic sediment found on site. Delivered within an operational environment, the project requires careful staging and coordination to maintain ongoing facility performance.

Through detailed planning and integrated delivery, the team is achieving efficient program outcomes while supporting the facility’s long-term resilience and capacity growth.
