The University of Glasgow project recently held their annual Multiplex Burns Charity Ceilidh, which brought together Multiplex, our supply chain and partners for a night of fun-fuelled entertainment. The evening raised £27,000 for our two local charities, Maggie's and Emmaus, and brought the total raised by the project to over £112,000 since starting on site in October 2017. In addition to a charity auction and raffle, guests took part in some traditional ceilidh dancing and sat down to listen to the "Address to the Haggis".
As part of our commitment to transform the communities we operate in, Multiplex partners with local charities and good causes. The Maggie's charity provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. Their first centre in Glasgow opened within the University of Glasgow campus and Multiplex are proud supporters of the work they do. Emmaus is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of homeless people by getting them into accommodation and back in the workplace. They also operate 27 self-contained flats, two shops and a soup kitchen across Glasgow.
On behalf of the team at Maggie's Glasgow, I would like to congratulate Multiplex on the success of their recent Burns Supper, and express our gratitude at their choosing of Maggie's to benefit from funds raised at the event. We could not continue to do the work that we do without the generosity of supporters such as Multiplex. We are delighted to be working with Multiplex and are continuously grateful for their ongoing support - last year's event saw Multiplex raise enough funds to keep our centre open for a whole week, which is an incredible achievement. Thank you once again to all at Multiplex for your hard work and generosity.
