Multiplex unveils its 2024 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Strategy for Canada

TORONTO, CANADA: Premier construction company, Multiplex Construction Canada Ltd. (Multiplex) has launched its strategy for environmental, social and governance (ESG) in 2024.

This comprehensive strategy serves as the foundation for Multiplex's mission to construct a better future. In collaboration with industry stakeholders, the company aims to bring positive change to communities surrounding its projects while prioritizing decarbonization and environmental protection. 

Mark Nolan, Director of Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality at Multiplex, emphasized the company's commitment to ESG, stating, "Our ESG approach shapes Multiplex's long-term vision across every aspect of our operations. We recognize the opportunity to make a positive impact both upstream with clients and downstream in our supply chain.”

The Decarbonization Roadmap continues to outline Multiplex’s approach to transitioning from fossil fuels to clean, low-carbon energy sources, addressing goals related to GHG emissions, embodied carbon, and circular economy pathways.

Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the company ensures that each focus area of the strategy is relevant to its business and identifies opportunities for improvement. Anya Barkan, Senior Sustainability Manager, stated, "At Multiplex, we believe that sustainability and responsible business practices are not only the right thing to do, but they are also key to our long-term success. Our assessment of the SDGs allows us to understand where we can make the greatest impact and drive meaningful change."
